⎡ P E R S O N A L I T Y ⎤➤ At her core, Lee is a person with a heart of glass and eyes of steel. At a glance, her boyish appearance does well to communicate the fact that this girl isn't approachable nor gentle-- in fact, she's rude, immature, selfish, and irritable. After opening her mouth, those assumptions are proved to be true. Lee swears like a sailor without a gag: no stop-point, no end. Due to being raised in relative seclusion, her brashness is only matched by her crippling honesty-- blunt but always, always, always the truth in her eyes. Without any other support in her life, she built a room equipped with a full set of artillery around her brain, protecting herself from all the unknowns that the sheltered girl had never been exposed to. Touch her not-so-pretty little head for even a second and she'll fire an AK-47 loaded with compressed emotions and a constant why why why? straight at your skull.
⎡ H I S T O R Y ⎤➤ She was four when her mother died, too young to remember much besides the lady's smile: like liquid sunshine, and her voice: a silvery tinkling of bells on a summer day. Her older brothers, Jay and Roy were nine at the time, while her younger, Louis, was only two. No one knew which ailment Hua Ling Anther had succumbed to-- the woman had far too many, as her health had always been fairly weak, but in the end, a life lost was a life lost, and the Anther family had to move on.
➤ However, some people simply refused to leave the past. Lee's father, Morris, had been deeply in love with Hua, and clung on to every last memory he had of her. At first, it was just pictures and photos of his late wife, but as Lee, his only daughter, grew, Morris began to notice his daughter's resemblance to Hua. He began pampering and dressing her in various frilly dresses that looked like her mother's, and once Lee was old enough to wear the real deal, well, on they went.
➤ Time passed. Lee, aged fifteen, began to wonder whom her father really loved. He seemed to treat Louis, Jay, and Roy all the same-- why was she the only one getting forced to wear clothing she didn't even like? She didn't want to be some doll her father crafted just so he could have his wife back. She wanted to be like her brothers, who seemed free to do anything and everything they wanted. Sadly, that never seemed to be the case. Their family was well off, and had the funds to do-- well, almost anything within reason, but Lee was never allowed to exercise that privilege. Whenever she'd asked her father about it, she'd only get an annoyed expression and a wave of the arm, Morris-code for "I'm not interested". Lee bit her lip, not wanting to go against her father's wishes. She was raised to be obedient, after all. However, the anger at her father and resentment at her mother began to bubble underneath the surface.
➤ Things changed on the night of her eighteenth birthday. Her father's adoration of Lee's looks had spiraled out of control. She snapped when he'd offhandedly called her Hua. Lee's pent up frustration and anger at her father welled up, and she ran out of the house, with ninety five dollars stashed inside her coat pocket. Lee changed her appearance, cutting and dying her hair, then shedding her lacey wardrobe for a casual one. By chance, she noticed an advertisement for the OASIS project, and enrolled immediately thereafter. This sounded like exactly what she needed--her own oasis.
